Service Description
August Monday 3rd- Friday 7th Does your young person love spending time outdoors? Would they like to spend a full week engaging with nature, exploring, learning new skills and making new friends? Summer Forest School is the perfect choice. You’ll spend the week based in the shire and woodland areas at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm. Led by experienced Forest School Leader, Emma, the forest adventurers will have the chance to get to know each other through a series of team building activities using new skills like knot tying and shelter building. Fire lighting skills will feature, alongside using tools to make natural crafts. Campfire cooking will take centre stage as we try different methods to prepare our own food on the open fire. Various projects will feature throughout the week including making bird feeders, creating and playing new games, scavenger hunts and nature identification. Each day will end with time to share stories about the day and maybe sing some campfire songs! Each week is limited to just 16 children which means everyone will get to know each other really well and, who knows, maybe make some long- lasting friendships. For some of the activities, we’ll be dividing up into 2 groups based on age to ensure everyone can join in and have lots of support. The needs of the children will be taken into consideration and Forest School is designed to be participant- led so we will make sure that everyone is always able to participate in a way that works for them. Once you have signed up to the programme, you’ll receive an email within a few weeks which will contain a health/ consent form which must be completed ahead of forest school. This is to ensure that we keep everyone safe so we can have an enjoyable week in the great outdoors! You’ll also receive specific details about the week including what to bring/ wear and drop off/ pick up arrangements. Each day will run from 9.30am till 3pm All participants will need to bring a packed lunch, snacks and water bottle as well as a waterproof coat and clothes that can get muddy!
